Prestige Senior Living Five Rivers invites the Tillamook community to attend a free information session on Friday, January 24, to learn about the dangers of and potential for elder finance abuse and fraud and discover how older adults can protect themselves from email phishing, financial scams and more.
According to the U.S. Consumer Financial Protections Bureau, reports of suspicious financial activity involving older adults totals upward of $35 billion each year and continues to grow. During this free session, Zaheen Khan from Fibre Federal Credit Union will guide attendees through the different types of scams and share information on how older adults and their loved ones can set safeguards to prevent financial exploitation.
As a financial education coordinator, Khan is passionate about helping community members of all ages gain critical financial literacy skills and use this information to improve their financial situation.
Elder financial abuse is one of the most common types of abuse for older adults. Prestige is dedicated to helping older adults have access to the information and support they need to live healthy, meaningful lives. For more information and to RSVP for this event, call (503) 842-0918.
