No visit to Tillamook is complete without stopping by the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum. The building itself is a significant piece of history and once served as the Tillamook County courthouse. Now it is home to over 35,000 items and 10,000 photographs documenting Tillamook County’s history. Complete with multiple replica rooms and artifacts belonging to the very first Tillamook Bay residents, the North Oregon Coastal Indians and the early pioneer settlers, it feels as if one has traveled back in time. The Tillamook County Pioneer Museum also includes two libraries dedicated to Tillamook County history, which allows guests to do some of their own digging into the past. The second floor of the museum is dedicated to natural history and visitors will find themselves surrounded by backdrops and incredibly realistic dioramas of nature. Museum hours are 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Sunday. The Research Library is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-4pm by appointment.
