Latimer Quilt & Textile – Tillamook Oregon

The Latimer Quilt and Textile Center is on a mission to “preserve, promote, display and facilitate the creation of and provide education about the textile arts.” Once an abandoned schoolhouse, the building was completely restored and transformed into the Latimer Quilt and Textile Center. The Center now houses impressive displays of both antique and present day quilts, which draw in visitors from all over the world. The Latimer Center’s collection includes textile art from the mid-19th century, in addition to clothing pieces and various textile tools. 1930s-1940s crochet work can be found, as well as 1950s hand-woven textiles, and a growing collection of indigo. Demonstrations in weaving, spinning, and other textile arts are available, plus a research library for guests. The Latimer Quilt and Textile Center also hosts six noteworthy gallery exhibits each year. In the Latimer Quilt & Textile gift shop, visitors will find an array of hand-made items, books, antique fabric, and other textile pieces. The Latimer Quilt and Textile Center is one-quarter mile east of Highway 101, at 2105 Wilson River Loop, Tillamook, Oregon.
