Horseback Riding

Take a horseback riding tour on the beach or bring your own for a fun and relaxing Oregon Coast experience.

Explore the Tillamook Coast beaches from the back of a horse as it gallops next to the surf. Sounds like a dream come true, right? The beaches in Tillamook are horse friendly and made for stretching your legs. If you don’t have your own horse, you can rent one on a guided tour. From Pacific City to Nehalem, guided tours of the beaches on horseback make for both romantic dates and fun family memories. Horseback riding is for every age and experience level.

Bring your own horse and find horse-friendly accommodations at Nehalem Bay State Park, plus miles of trails and beach access. Remember if your horse isn’t accustomed to riding in the sand, he or she might have trouble finding her footing, and can tire much quicker than walking on dirt or harder surfaces. Some horses get skittish near the waves, or even dizzy, so introduce your horse to the ocean slowly and try not to overwhelm it with too many new experiences in one day. Try for no more than an hour the first day, or find wooded trails away from the sand and beach. Beware of other riders, dogs, and children that might spook your horse.
